To check a voice, the app uploads your audio over an encrypted connection to TextSight AI, where a machine-learning model analyses it. Nothing is analysed on your device. The model runs on our own servers — no other company receives your audio.
The audio itself is never stored. It is held only for as long as the analysis takes and is then gone. What we keep is the result — the verdict, the confidence score, the filename and how long the clip was — in your scan history, until you delete it or delete your account.
Your audio is never sold, never used to advertise to you, and never used to train a model. Audio that is never stored cannot become training data.
The app asks for microphone access only so that you can record a clip to check. It records when you tap record, and at no other time. Before your first clip ever leaves your device, the app shows you what is sent, who receives it and what happens to it afterwards, and asks you to allow it. You can re-read that at any time under Privacy & data, and withdraw it there.
The detector reads the opening 60 seconds of any recording. A verdict on a longer clip is a verdict on its first minute, and the app says so wherever it shows one.
The TextSight Voice extension for Google Chrome checks voices you hear in your browser. Everything in Your audio applies to it: the clip goes to our own servers, is analysed, and is not stored.
Signing out clears your results and the log. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored.
The extension asks once whether you want to send anonymous error reports, and
sends nothing until you say yes. If you do, each check reports whether it worked
and, if not, why: the error type, how long it took, the site's name (for example
youtube.com), whether it was a tab recording, a file or a link, and
the extension version, browser version and operating system, with a random install
ID — or your account ID if you are signed in. These go to PostHog, our analytics
processor. They never include the audio, page titles, full web
addresses or file names. You can change your mind at any time under
Diagnostics in the extension.

| What | Basis |
|---|---|
| Analysing a clip you submitted | Performance of a contract — it is the service you asked for |
| Account, history and billing | Performance of a contract |

| Website analytics, and error reports from the Chrome extension | Consent — and nothing runs before you give it |
| Invoices and tax records | Legal obligation |
Your audio is shared with nobody. It goes to our own servers and no further. We do not send it to an outside model provider, a transcription vendor, or any hosted inference service.
For the rest of the service we use a small number of processors:
| Who | What for | Do they receive your audio? |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payments and invoicing | No |
| Postmark | Transactional email — verification, password resets, receipts | No |
| PostHog, Microsoft Clarity | Website analytics, and the Chrome extension's error reports (PostHog only), only with your consent | No |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
Wherever you are, you can:
If you are in the EU or UK, these are your rights under GDPR Arts. 15–21. If you are in California, the equivalent CCPA rights apply; note that we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
This website sets a small number of strictly-necessary cookies so you can stay signed in. Those are always on, because the site cannot work without them.
Everything else is opt-in. Analytics — PostHog and Microsoft Clarity — runs only after you accept it in the consent banner, and you can change that decision at any time. Declining costs you nothing.
The iOS app sets no cookies and contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
The Chrome extension sets no cookies. It sends anonymous error reports only if you opt in when it asks, and you can turn them off under Diagnostics.
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will remove it.
We are based outside the EEA and our servers may process your data outside your own country. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and on equivalent safeguards with our processors.
If we change how audio is handled — where it goes, how long it is kept, or who receives it — we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and ask you to read and accept the disclosure again inside the app before your next check. A permission that names the wrong recipient is not a permission.
